The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole - Sue Townsend
This is the story of Adrian Mole, 13 year-old Intellectual whose parents have a troubled marriage and whose dog is permanently at the vet's.
I found this funny, but not as screamingly hilarious as the reviewers seemed to have considered it. According to them, it seems I should have been permanently rolling around on the floor laughing. This failed to happen.
Also, I found the extra stuff at the back - author's interview, family tree and so on - faintly annoying because it tells you what is going to happen in future books. I suspect this is because the same material has been appended to each book. Which I consider slightly sloppy editing. There should, I feel, at least be a spoiler warning.
