Flying through these. This may be some sort of personal best. (A week each for Fellowship and Towers!)
Again, it's the elvish parts that got me: the bits about failing and fading and hope under the shadow. Found it really difficult to care about the Rohan parts (grr, Helm's Deep, you are unnecessary and protracted) but I seem to find the Dead Marshes less offensive than most. I think I just like Frodo and Sam. Also Tolkien is really good at writing creepy, ruined places, and I wish he'd done more of it. (Minas Morgul is fantastic.)
And: "The king has got a crown again!" *sob*
