Fairy Tales: A New History - Ruth Bottigheimer

Fairy Tales: A New History (Excelsior Editions) - Ruth B. Bottigheimer

In which Bottigheimer argues that fairy tales are literary creations rather than originating from the oral tradition of the Ye Olde Folke of Yore which tends to be rather romanticised today. It's intriguing, if a little informal in tone and occasionally mildly unconvincing. There are a number of spelling mistakes in my edition, too, which tends to undermine the argument somewhat.
